Save Money With Your Cell Phone

by Mike on November 5, 2009

I was just reading a neat article about how keeping a notebook in your pocket can save you money and it gave me a great idea for a post.

I like to carry a pen and paper with me all the time because you never know when you’re going to need to write something down.  It could be a sale price on something you’ve been looking for or a phone number or any number of things.  Personally, I never know when an idea for a new blog post or website will hit me so I like to be prepared.

But not everyone wants to carry around a notebook and pen.  Some just can’t be bothered and others feel they already have enough stuff to lug around with them.

So it got me thinking…what about your cell phone?  Everyone has a cell phone these days and they almost never leave our sides.

So how can your cell phone help you save money?

Well if you see something on sale but you’re not sure if its a good deal you can use your cell phone’s notepad function to make a note of the details.

If you have internet access on your phone you can visit competitor websites to check out their prices before making a purchase.  Or you can call a friend who can do it for you.

Or what I sometimes do is take a picture of the item with the price tag and model number.  That way I get all the information I need in an instant.

What other ways can you use your cell phone for saving money?

I use the notes on my cell all the time. I’ve saved possible baby names that I’m thinking of for future use and websites I see out in the real world that I want to check out later. I hadn’t thought about it for shopping deals though. That’s a great idea.
