Love Drop Continues Paying It Forward

The Love Drop team is at it again! Last month they gave over $5,000 worth of cash and goods to their recipient, the Aubin family, who was struggling financially after the passing of their dad, and this month they’re ready to do it again and help out another person They’ve given out over $45,000 in the past 6 months, and show no signs of stopping. If you know of anyone yourself that could use their help, make sure to let them know.

This month they’re heading down to Atlanta to help Felicity, a little 4-year-old girl who was just diagnosed with brain cancer. Felicity had immediate surgery and is currently undergoing aggressive radiation treatments for the remaining portion of her tumor. We want to raise $5,000 for her family to help cover mounting medical costs, as well as the future expenses a new baby on its way will bring. With your support and generosity, we can really do something special for them!

Here are three ways you can help:

Give $25 towards medical bills <– Click this link to contribute $25 towards Felicity’s radiation treatments. It’ll help them out a ton!
Give a gift or service- Gift cards are always helpful. Places like Target, Wal-mart, restaurants, etc would definitely help them out. Services too – especially those you can offer yourselves, or from your company.

Love Drop Strikes Again

watch?v=ByZpOU49FOALast month the Love Drop Team raised over $13,000 (and 3 iPads!) to help two little boys with autism receive a service dog. They were beyond touched, and we did this in only 1 month – that’s it. Everyone came together and gave a few bucks each to impact one family’s life. If you were a part of it, THANK YOU! This month we start all over again and rally behind Katie, a single mom out in Dallas battling not only two brain tumors so far (she’s knocked out one, and currently working on the other), but who’s also dealing with hydrocephalus. We’re teaming up with folks at Blissdom this month to not only bring the community her way, but to make a huge dent in her medical bills.

Love Drop Helps Another Family

Last month the Love Drop Team raised over $2,500 and boxes after boxes of goods and items to help Jill and her family get through a hard time in their lives (homelessness & financial worries). We did this in 1 month. All 400+ people came together and gave a few bucks each to impact one family’s life. If you participated in this, THANK YOU. The final presentation can be seen here. (It’s pretty cool!)

This month we start all over again and circle around 2 beautiful kids with severe autism — Ethan & Alex. Our goal is to raise $13,000 so we can get them a highly trained service dog. And if possible, two iPads so they can speak again (they can’t even say “I love you” to their mom — these iPads allow them to get their voice back).

Spend a Dollar, Change a Life

You’ve probably already heard of J. Money from his kick-ass blog Budgets Are Sexy. But now he has teamed up with his buddy Nate St Pierre to start an amazing new project called Love Drop.

Love Drop is a micro-giving network of people who unite as a community to help one person or family a month. By subscribing to the team for as low as $1, they make it easy for their members to change lives in a fun and tangible way. Each month Love Drop delivers a unique combination of unexpected financial gifts, personal encouragement and the support of local and online communities.

At the end of every month, Nate and J$ show up in the town the people live in to deliver this pile of goodness. The money, the gifts, the services, everything! It’s all on film, and it all ends with an amazing outpouring of love. And then it starts all over again the next month. Help them, and their flagship partner, Kona Grill, make this drop in Chicago amazing!

How to Donate Your Leftover Halloween Candy

Since Halloween fell on a Saturday this year, I was expecting a lot of kids to be out trick or treating. I’m sure the rainy weather played a part but hardly anyone came ringing our bell. And we were pretty much the only ones out with our kids (last year our neighborhood was mobbed!)

If you’re like us then you probably have a whole bunch of candy leftover. You could throw it all in a bowl and take it to work but everyone does that and there’s just way too much.

And let’s fact it…its not the healthiest thing to keep at your desk for snacks.

So why not donate your leftover candy to people who could really use it. There are various organizations that will accept candy as donations.

Perhaps there’s a soup kitchen nearby that will accept it…but be sure to call first to make sure they will take candy donations.

Another option is Operation Shoebox, which will take the candy and distribute it to our troops overseas.

You’ll be helping to support the brave men and women who are serving in our military. They’ll either enjoy the sweets themselves or share it with local children to help build relationships and improve communication.
